There are two cases that caused the issue pairing of the gateway to your 2.4 Wifi Network.
Case no. 1: Gateway compatibility
Our Sifely gateway was designed using a chipset ESP32 and firmware that specifically support the Wifi 5 Standards - 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n - operating in the 2.4 GHz band.
Here are some explanations regarding the gateway compatibility:
- Hardware Limitations: The Sifely gateway’s internal hardware is built to work only for Wifi Standard protocols defined 802.11b/g/n. Most of the modern Wifi Standards like Wifi 6 with 802.11ax introduce new features (such as OFDMA and advanced MU-MIMO) that require different chipset and hardware capabilities, which the Sifely Gateway does not include.
- Backwards compatibility: Although 802.11ax (Wifi 6) is backwards compatible with previous standards, a device built exclusively for 802.11b/g/n may not be able to leverage the full benefits or even correctly interface with the unique aspects of an 802.11ax network.
- Firmware and software Constraints: The Sifely Gateway firmware is optimized for 802.11b/g/n networks. Incorporating support for 802.11ax would typically demand significant changes to the firmware and possibly additional processing power to handle the new protocol and efficiency improvements.
Case no. 2: Wireless network blocks all outbound traffic.
To enable your Sifely Gateway to function correctly in an environment where all outbound traffic is blocked, you'll need to adjust your router's settings to allow specific network communications. According to Sifely's support documentation, the gateway requires access to port 2999 for its operations.
Additionally, the gateway communicates with the server at gateway.ttlock.com.
To ensure seamless connectivity, make sure this domain is accessible through your network.
